The 2017-2018 year us underway with as many-student athletes as ever representing the West Hills College LEMOORE Golden Eagles.
The Men’s Cross Country team got off to a good start in their first meet of the season in Fresno with Benny Vega leading the way for the Golden Eagles over the 4 miles
The Women’s Cross Country team also got off to a good start in their first meet of the season in Fresno with Azalea Johnson leading the way with a 22:48.
The next Cross Country meet for both the Mena nd the Women is at the SoCal Preview, Central Park, Santa Clarita on Friday 15th September.
Women’s Golf is off to their best start in team history. They are currently 2-0 in Conference defeating all comers at the first two Conference matches at Fig Garden GC, Fresno and Kings River GC, Kingsbury. Let’s hope the eagles van keep it up. First home match at Lemoore GC at noon on Thursday 14th February.
Women’s Soccer is off to a flying start and has to play a majority of their games at home in the searing temperatures that have exceeded 110 degrees on multiple occasions. Despite the temperatures and the resulting fatigue issues, the Women have shown well and are gearing up for a tough Conference schedule. Their next matches are on a 3 day road trip that takes them to play 3 matches in three days against Lake Tahoe, Shasta and Siskiyou.
Men’s Soccer is also off to a quick start having 5 matches under their belts already. They took a very successful early season trip to the Lake Tahoe tournament and then journeyed down to the Mt SAC tournament. While having to contend with the heat and the quick succession of matches the men have faired very well with a couple of strong performances already in the books. The Men next play at home on Thursday 14th September at 4pm vs Canada.
The Wrestling team just started their competitive schedule and had a great first outing at Bakersfield defeating Santa Ana and Moorpark! Excellent performances all round overseen by new Head Coach Marcio Botelho see the Golden Eagles as contenders to be reckoned with this season. Their next match is at home on Friday 15th before hosting their Golden Eagle all-day tournament that sees the top Community Colleges afrom aroud the State competing here in Lemoore on the 23rd September.
