Welcome to the new Women’s Volleyball Coach, Kelly Wigton. Kelly has been playing volleyball since the age of 11 years old. Her experience as a player includes Humboldt State, Vanguard University, Santa Rosa Junior College, and high school and club volleyball. Currently, she plays competitive grass court double volleyball, and she is pursuing an opportunity to play an AVP event.
Kelly’s personal success as a player, which include an MVP and numerous team records, coupled with her leadership, have prepared her well for coaching the Golden Eagles’ first volleyball team.
Kelly is the wife of a Navy pilot, and while stationed overseas, Kelly coached the Zama High School Varsity volleyball team in Japan. In her second season coaching the Zama High team, the team received the Most Improved Team award. According to the Stars and Stripes, “Zama American volleyball, which has risen from the ashes of a last-place DODDS Japan finish two years ago to take second in the DODDS Japan and Far East D-II tournaments.”
Kelly graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from California State University of Bakersfield in 2010. She is married for nine years to a Naval Aviator. She has three girls; the oldest is age four, and twins ages two and a half.
