EL CAJON – Mykayle McCoy scored a game-high 26 points while Na'Jae Stevenson pulled down 14 rebounds to help lead Lemoore College to its first win of the season, a 97-58 rout of Imperial Valley College to close out the Cuyamaca College Tournament on Saturday.
The victory came a day after the Golden Eagles suffered a close 74-69 loss to host Cuyamaca in their season-opener on Friday night.
On Saturday, Lemoore jumped out to a huge lead and never looked back. The Golden Eagles were up 51-30 at halftime and were never threatened.
McCoy nearly had a double-double but ended with 9 rebounds while adding 3 assists and 3 steals. Jason Russ and Rylan Rodriguez nearly achieved the feat as well but Russ totaled 12 points and 9 boards while Rodriguez had 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Eleven Williams also had a solid game with 12 points and 3 assists.
McCoy had an impressive season debut for the Golden Eagles on Friday as he led all with 27 points while adding 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a pair of steals. Stevenson chipped in with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
Lemoore, now 1-1 overall, is back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 12) when the Golden Eagles travel to No. 4 state-ranked West Valley College.
