Golden Eagles get back on track with rout of Merced
LEMOORE – The Lemoore College women's basketball team got back to winning on Saturday, rolling to a huge 50-point victory over visiting Merced College. The Golden Eagles routed the Blue Devils 88-38 at home three days after having their 11-game winning streak snapped in a loss to Fresno City College.
With Saturday's win, Lemoore improved to 15-6 overall and 4-1 in the Central Valley Conference standings. The Golden Eagles remain perfect at home with a 6-0 record.
Lemoore outscored Merced 31-13 in the first quarter and held a commanding 46-20 at halftime.
Lia Sims led the Golden Eagles with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Savannah Rowland posted a double-double with 10 points, 10 assists while adding 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Aaliyah Thompson had a solid all-around effort with 12 points, 7 boards, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.
Lemoore got solid contributions from the bench as Lillian Meyer had 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Briannah Lorta totaled 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals while Makayla Figuereo added 6 points.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 28) when they travel to Taft College for a 6 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
