SAN BRUNO – The Lemoore College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of impressive opening-day wins, getting 3-0 sweeps over College of Marin and host Skyline College at the Skyline Quad on Friday.
The Golden Eagles got the season started right with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-22 victory against Marin and closed the day by winning 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 over Skyline.
Freshman Emily Ramirez and sophomore Olivia Nourian paced the Golden Eagles' offense in the Marin victory. Ramirez totaled 8 kills while adding 7 digs with 4 aces and Nourian posted 7 kills.
Sophomore Adrianne Davis had a team-best 13 digs and sophomore Kyana Rivera led with 15 digs.
In the Skyline win, sophomore Anisa Meraz and freshman Ella Jackson both had 7 kills each to lead Lemoore while Nourian contributed 6 kills and 9 digs.
Davis added 13 more digs to her day and Rivera totaled 21 assists while serving up a team-best 5 aces in the match.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday (Aug. 27) when they travel to Los Medanos College in Pittsburg for a pair of non-conference matches. Lemoore will face again Marin at 3 p.m. and will take on host Los Medanos right after at 5 p.m.
